Learning for Life, Impacting for Christ
Welcome to the 7th & 8th grade classroom

Before I started teaching at Boise Valley Adventist School, I was a high school social studies teacher at a few of our SDA academies. I was born and raised mostly in Texas with a few years in Arkansas. I graduated from Southwestern Adventist University in 2014 with a degree in social studies and an emphasis in education. Currently I am taking graduate classes at Walla Walla University.
I am married to the most wonderful woman ever and this year will be our 10th anniversary. We have 4 children, 2 of which attend BVAS in Mrs. Lawson's classroom and they love it.
I try to focus on collaboration and projects in my class. In social studies we will be doing 4 projects a year, 1 per quarter. I feel like projects allow students to be as creative as they want to be and teach them how to work with others. I try to show God through example and having discussions in class. I also don’t assign homework. The only time a student should bring something home is if they didn’t finish it in class. I also am excited to start coaching sports again this year.
In my personal life I enjoy playing sports. Standing at 6 ft 7 in tall, I excel at both volleyball and basketball. I also enjoy hiking, camping, and many other activities.
My favorite memory verse is 1 Samuel 14:6 6 Then Jonathan said to the young man who bore his armor, “Come, let us go over to the garrison of these uncircumcised; it may be that the Lord will work for us. For nothing restrains the Lord from saving by many or by few.”
