Running Club

Sedentary lifestyle is all too common in our modern culture, and more often than not, our students become victims to this pervasive epidemic.  Poor health, low energy and lethargic minds create less-than-ideal conditions for academic success.  The 6/7/8 grade class initiated the running club in order to mitigate the effects of unhealthy lifestyles.  Studies reveal that running and walking regularly offer a plethora of benefits:

  • raising the level of good cholesterol

  • boosting immune system (help fight colds and flu)

  • strengthening the heart

  • improving circulation

  • maintaining healthy weight

  • reducing the risk of diseases in the future such as diabetes and heart attacks

  • reducing stress

  • providing energy

  • creating sharper and clearer minds

  • setting goals and achieving them; building self-confidence

Additionally, the students are putting God’s counsel to action.  “Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God?”  1 Corinthians 6:19.

The running club is a valuable medium that can support the students academically and spiritually. It will run September to November and is open to grades 5-8.
