LEGO® Robotics Club

The integration of robotics into our society and culture is growing exponentially, and its impact is widespread.  In California, robotic arms are flipping burgers for the CaliBurger restaurant chain.  Uber and Google have launched self-driving vehicles in several major U.S. cities.  Farmbots are revolutionizing the farming industry.  Pharmacies across the nation are implementing robotic technology to fill prescriptions.  Robotic surgeries are being performed on minimally invasive procedures.  Assembly lines are dominated by automated machines.  “A new study by the McKinsey Global Institute estimates that between 400 million and 800 million of today’s jobs will be automated by 2030.”

Lego Robotics education program can act as a launchpad that helps students be better prepared for this daunting world of technology.  Students gain hands-on experience in designing and programming robots.  Students also apply their mathematical skills such as estimating, measuring distance, time and speed.  21st Century skills are naturally infused into the program, providing students with the opportunities to practice critical and creative thinking, collaboration (teamwork), and communication.  Furthermore, through constant troubleshooting and revising, they are exposed to early problem-solving strategies.

In 2018, over 90,000 students from 27 countries participated in Lego Robotics.  So let’s join them, and build, program and learn while having some fun!

It runs December to February and is open to grades 3-8.
